Ngora District (Ngora District)
Ngora District is a district in the Eastern Region of Uganda. The town of Ngora is the site of the district headquarters.
Ngora District is bordered by Soroti District to the northwest, Katakwi District to the northeast, Kumi District to the east, Pallisa District to the south, and Serere District to the west. The district headquarters are located approximately 23 km, by road, west of Kumi, the nearest large town. This is approximately 230 km, by road, northeast of Kampala, the capital of Uganda. The coordinates of the district are:01 30N, 33 48E.

Uganda is named after the Buganda kingdom, which encompasses a large portion of the south of the country, including the capital Kampala and whose language Luganda is widely spoken throughout the country. From 1894, the area was ruled as a protectorate by the United Kingdom, which established administrative law across the territory. Uganda gained independence from the UK on 9 October 1962. The period since then has been marked by violent conflicts, including an eight-year-long military dictatorship led by Idi Amin.
